Augusta Pierce Tabor
1833-1895
Pioneer           Businesswoman          Philanthropist

Often called the First Lady of Leadville, Augusta Tabor is a well known name on the Colorado mining frontier.  Though many consider her a foot note to the  well known and scandalous saga of of husband Silver Baron Horace Tabor and Elizabeth "Baby" Doe,  Augusta Tabor was a singular pioneering businesswoman with a heart of gold and a generousity that is legend.  Journey with Augusta as she describes crossing the prairie with the Pike's Peak gold rush and life in the boom camps.  Hear this courageous wife and mother talk about one of the 19th century's most enduring scandals!

"The name's Tabor.  This is the way I make money to help my husband.  He's bent on prospecting and one of these days he'll make that big find.  His luck will turn, just see if it won't.  Till then, I'm willing to do my part."
August Tabor, upon setting a laundry business at a mining camp, 1862
